What Is PP Raffia Grade?

PP raffia grade is a polypropylene resin developed for manufacturing flat tapes, woven fabrics, ropes, sacks, and other raffia-based products. Most grades are based on polypropylene homopolymer, providing a balanced combination of processability, tensile strength, stiffness, and drawability.

During processing, PP granules are melted and extruded into a thin film. The film is then slit into narrow tapes and stretched under controlled heating. This drawing process aligns the polymer chains along the tape direction, improving the tensile strength, stiffness, and dimensional stability of the finished tapes. The material is well suited to demanding woven and industrial textile applications.
