Vistamaxx 6202 is a propylene-based elastomer (PBE) produced by ExxonMobil using the metallocene catalyst technology. It offers excellent elasticity, softness, impact strength and compatibility with PP/PE. Compared to Vistamaxx 6102, the POE 6202 grade has higher rigidity and modulus, making it widely used for polypropylene toughening, TPO modification, filler masterbatch, and soft plastic components.

POE Vistamaxx 6202 significantly improves the impact strength and crack resistance of polypropylene (PP) while maintaining good stiffness and dimensional stability. It is suitable for:

2. Automotive TPO Materials

The resin is used in automotive materials to produce TPO or PP-based modified compounds, offering:

  • Enhanced low-temperature impact resistance
  • Improved flexibility and scratch resistance
  • Better surface appearance and soft-touch feel for interior components
    Typical applications include dashboards, center console frames, door panels, interior trims, and dust covers.

3. High-Filler Masterbatch Carrier Resin

This material can serve as a carrier resin for high-loading filler masterbatches containing calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) or talc. It maintains toughness while supporting high filler dispersion. Common applications include:

  • Blown film and blow-molded containers
  • Injection-molded household products
  • PE/PP film filler masterbatches

4. Soft-Touch and Elastic Products

6202 grade can partially replace SEBS or TPR in soft elastomer formulations. It is used in flexible and soft-touch applications such as:

  • Soft-grip power tool handles
  • Kitchen utensil grips and anti-slip pads
  • Soft rubber toys and over-molded parts

5. Wire and Cable Compounds

It enhances flexibility and extrusion performance in wire and cable insulation applications. Suitable for:

  • Low-voltage wire sheathing
  • Communication cable jacketing

6. Recycled PP/PE Improvement

Exxonmobil Vistamaxx™ 6202 is effective in upgrading recycled polyolefins. It enhances the mechanical properties of recycled PP and PE, improving impact strength, durability, and processing stability.
