Lotrene FB3003 is a low density polyethylene (LDPE) resin produced by Qatar Petrochemical Company. It plays an important role in various industrial sectors. Produced through free radical polymerization of ethylene monomer under high pressure, it possesses unique molecular structure and performance characteristics. LDPE FB3003 has excellent mechanical properties, excellent shrinkage properties and excellent bubble stability. Additionally, it also has high resistance to stress cracking. So LDPE FB3003 is mainly recommended for heavy duty film applications.

Applications of LDPE Lotrene FB3003

  • Heavy-duty packaging bags. LDPE Lotrene FB3003 is widely used in heavy-duty packaging bags due to its high resistance to environmental stress cracking, excellent mechanical properties, and outstanding shrinkage performance. These bags are suitable for packaging heavy-duty products such as cement, fertilizer, and feed, which require high packaging strength. They can withstand the weight of the product, as well as the friction and impact during handling, ensuring product safety during storage and transportation.
  • Industrial shrink film and pallet shrink film. Its outstanding shrinkage performance makes it an ideal material for industrial and pallet shrink film. In industrial production, shrink film made from Lotrene FB3003 can tightly wrap industrial products such as machinery and equipment parts and metal products, providing protection and securing. In logistics and warehousing, pallet shrink film is used to wrap palletized cargo, firmly securing it to the pallet to prevent it from shifting or scattering during transportation. It also provides moisture and dust protection, improving logistics safety and efficiency.
  • Architectural film. Lotrene FB3003’s high resistance to environmental stress cracking and excellent mechanical properties make it suitable for the demanding requirements of the construction industry. It can be used in construction projects for moisture-proofing, waterproofing, and thermal insulation, such as moisture barriers on building exterior walls, waterproof membranes in basements, and thermal insulation films on roofs. In long-term outdoor environments, it effectively resists the erosion of wind, rain, and UV rays, providing reliable protection for buildings and extending their service life.
  • Agricultural film. This resin is commonly used in the production of agricultural films, such as greenhouse films and ground films. Greenhouse films require excellent light transmittance, thermal insulation, and aging resistance. Greenhouse films made with Lotrene FB3003 maintain a certain level of transparency while its environmental stress cracking resistance allows them to withstand long-term outdoor use in windy and sunny conditions without breaking. Ground films require excellent thermal insulation, moisture retention, and weed control. The various properties of LDPE FB3003 enable them to meet these requirements, promoting crop growth and improving agricultural production efficiency.
  • Drip irrigation pipes. This resin can also be used in the production of drip irrigation pipes. Drip irrigation pipes must withstand certain water pressures during farmland irrigation and remain buried in the soil for extended periods, exposing them to corrosion from soil chemicals. Lotrene FB3003’s high resistance to environmental stress cracking and excellent mechanical properties enable drip irrigation pipes made from it to operate stably in complex farmland environments, ensuring the proper functioning of the drip irrigation system, enabling precise irrigation, and improving water resource utilization efficiency.
  • Food packaging. Because it complies with food contact standards and is low in odor, Lotrene FB3003 can be used in food packaging materials such as food bags and plastic wrap. Its stable chemical properties ensure food safety and quality without contaminating food, providing a reliable packaging solution for the food industry and protecting consumer health.
  • Wire and cable jacketing. LDPE FB3003 can be used as a jacketing material for wires and cables. It provides excellent insulation protection, protecting them from environmental damage such as moisture and chemicals. Its flexibility and mechanical strength facilitate installation and operation, ensuring secure and stable power and signal transmission.

Product Performance

  • High environmental stress crack resistance. Lotrene FB3003 exhibits excellent environmental stress crack resistance (ESCR), enabling it to maintain structural integrity and resist cracking even under complex environmental stresses. For long-term outdoor use in agricultural and construction films, it maintains excellent performance despite exposure to harsh conditions such as wind, sun, temperature fluctuations, and chemical attack from soil, extending product life, reducing replacement frequency, and lowering operating costs.
  • Excellent processability. This product easily adapts to various extruders designed for polyethylene. During blown film processing, the recommended melt temperature is 180-210°C. Within this temperature range, the resin exhibits excellent flowability and smooth processing. Furthermore, a blow-up ratio between 2:1 and 3.5:1 produces blown film with optimal overall performance. This excellent processability makes the production process more efficient and stable, helping to improve product quality consistency and meet the needs of large-scale production.
  • Excellent mechanical properties. The resin’s suitable molecular structure enables films produced from it to exhibit excellent mechanical properties. For example, at a film thickness of 50μm, the yield tensile strength in the machine direction (MD) reaches 16.0MPa, and in the transverse direction (TD) reaches 11.0MPa. The tensile strength at break is 25MPa in the MD and 25MPa in the TD. The elongation at break is 550% in the MD and 600% in the TD. These mechanical properties ensure that the film can withstand certain tensile and tearing forces in practical applications without breaking, providing reliable product protection.
  • Outstanding shrinkage performance. The film shrinks evenly when heated, tightly wrapping the packaged items. This property makes it widely used in industrial shrink film and pallet shrink wrap. In logistics and transportation, shrink film made with Lotrene FB3003 not only provides compact and aesthetically pleasing packaging, but also protects against moisture, dust, and theft, effectively protecting goods during transportation.
  • This resin complies with food contact standards, such as FDA 21 CFR, and can be used directly in food packaging. Its chemical properties are stable and will not migrate harmful substances into food, ensuring food safety and quality during storage and transportation, giving consumers peace of mind.
  • LDPE FB3003 is inherently low-odor, making it crucial for packaging odor-sensitive products, such as food and precision electronic equipment. Low-odor packaging materials do not interfere with the odor of the packaged items, preserving the original quality and flavor of the product.
