PP HP500N is a general-purpose resin for injection moulding applications in the polypropylene (PP) family. The major manufacturers include LyondellBasell (Moplen series), Saudi Arabia’s SABIC, and China’s JINNENG,etc.

Based primarily on high-purity propylene, HP500N is produced via gas-phase polymerization and pelletized. The pellets are natural-colored, cylindrical, 2-5mm in size, odorless, non-toxic, and free of mechanical impurities. As a relatively low-density general-purpose plastic (0.90-0.936 g/cm³), PP HP500N combines lightweighting with cost-effectiveness, making it a common material in both industrial and residential applications.

Product Performance of PP HP500N

  • Balanced mechanical properties. High rigidity, with a flexural modulus of up to 1550 MPa and a flexural strength of 40 MPa, allows it to withstand high mechanical loads. It also boasts an impact strength of 5 kJ/m² (or 30 J/m), ensuring both structural stability and impact resistance.
  • Heat and chemical resistance. With a heat deflection temperature of 95-100°C, it can be sterilized at temperatures above 100°C and withstand short-term temperatures of 150°C without deformation. It is stable to most acids, bases, and solvents, but is only susceptible to highly corrosive media such as aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons.
  • Strong process adaptability. With a melt flow rate (MFR) of 10-12 g/10min, it offers excellent fluidity and is suitable for molding complex structures. Its high surface gloss and excellent conformability facilitate lamination with other materials and dyeing.
  • Safety and environmental friendliness. Select models are FDA-certified for food contact. They have low hygroscopicity (virtually non-absorbent) and are immune to environmental stress cracking. The appropriate use of recycled materials (≤15%) reduces costs.

Typical Applications

(1) Packaging and Food Contact

  • Food Packaging: Impact-resistant packaging for snacks such as potato chips and nuts, and rice and bean storage containers (strongly sealed and stackable).
  • Tableware: Disposable lunch boxes, portable water cups, and condiment containers, etc., comply with food safety standards, are heat-resistant, and easy to clean.

(2) Industrial and Logistics

  • Structural Parts: Container components, fiber plastic boxes, and storage boxes, leveraging high rigidity to withstand transportation shocks and stacking pressure.
  • Electrical and Electronics: Wire and cable insulation, electronic display housings, utilizing heat resistance and electrical insulation.

(3) Consumer and Home Furnishings

  • Plastic Toys: Frames and main structures, featuring high rigidity and drop resistance that meet child safety standards, and a glossy surface for enhanced quality.
  • Household Goods: Furniture connectors and kitchen steamer accessories, balancing strength and heat resistance.
