Processing Recommendations

To achieve optimal performance and maintain the resin’s quality, follow these processing guidelines:

Drying

  • PET is hygroscopic; proper drying before processing is essential.
  • Recommended: Dry at 160–180 °C for 4–6 hours until moisture ≤ 0.02%.
  • Use a dehumidifying dryer to prevent hydrolysis and viscosity degradation.

Melt Processing

  • Typical melt temperature: 270–285 °C.
  • Mold temperature: 20–40 °C.
  • Avoid prolonged residence time or overheating to prevent yellowing or IV loss.

Acetaldehyde Control

  • Maintain short residence time and avoid oxidation to preserve low AA levels.
  • Color/Transparency Control
  • Prevent contamination, dust, and degraded material to ensure a low b value and high L value.

Regrind Usage

  • Although regrind may be used, it can affect color tone, IV stability, and mechanical performance. Recommended ratio ≤ 10%.
